![Autumn 2025 Art and Museum collection part I— Breathing Across the Canvas edition I

💭 We’re starting the autumn collection with this breathtaking oil on artist’s board by Laszlo. If you find the artwork style to be familiar, you might be thinking about the portrait from László to Corina Kavanagh Lynch in the Summer 2024 collection part I. From De László Foundation Archived ‘Sitter’s Book Volume 1,’ we were able to know that Gwladys’s sister in law introduced her to three artist and wrote a letter to him to “expressing hopes that ‘it will be possible for her [Gwladys] to be included in your exhibition’ (DLA061-0070, op. cit.).” We can all agree that the sitter’s ethereal elegance and beauty would have missed if not being exhibited at the French Gallery in Pall Mall in 1924. An interesting backstory of the painting was that the pearl necklace in Gwladys‘s hand was insisted by the artist rather than herself. It was perhaps for the artistic purpose and thinking it would enhance Gwladys‘s characteristics or persona. However the choice was averted by her but eventually convinced by László. This painting is now part of a private collection. Courtesy to the Sotheby’s catalogue.
